Professional Grade 5mm Holiday Lights – Tree Wrapping Tips

When it comes to holiday lighting, the average
consumer isn’t aware of the vast differences in quality between the retail product and
the professional-grade product sold through Ewing Irrigation. For example, one of the most popular styles
of holiday lighting are the 5mm minis. When installed outdoors, the biggest problem
is moisture intrusion due to two-piece construction. The product that we carry is single-piece
construction, completely sealing the LED and eliminating moisture intrusion into the electronics. Another problem associated with the retail
product is strobing, which is light flicker. Light flicker occurs when you feed an LED
alternating current. Using a fully rectified product that converts
from an alternating current to direct current, gives you a real clean, even light output
across the LEDs, without any light flicker. At night, the 5mm is super bright due to the
clear-acrylic lens. It’s also directional, which creates a shimmering
effect as you move throughout the property. When installing light strands professionally,
a little preparation will save you a lot of time. Before you go out to the installation site,
unravel each strand, and then straighten out all of the kinks. Allow the wire to untwist, otherwise you won’t
get the full length of the wire. You’ll then want to wrap the strand back up
into a ball. This will make installation much faster. Starting with the female end in your fist,
wrap the wire around your hand. When you have enough coiled up, take it off
your hand and switch directions every few wraps, similar to a ball of twine. This will prevent the ball from becoming unraveled. To save you time and labor, Ewing now carries
pre-balled strands of 5mm lights. Begin wrapping from the bottom up, starting
with the male end, where the power supply is located. When possible, keep the spacing between rows
equal to the spacing of the lamps. This will help you maintain a consistent,
uniform look. Unlike traditional incandescent strands, which
only allow you to connect up to three sets end-to-end, LED strands allow you to connect
up to 45 set end-to-end. At just under five watts per strand, LED allows
you to connect up to 300 sets per circuit. Ewing offers a full line of professional-grade
holiday lighting as well as bistro lighting. For more information, stop in to your local
