Are You Color Blind? Teens First Contact Lenses

– Hey, everybody, welcome
back the Carl & Jinger! And today, is a very special day. – Oh yeah! – I’m getting my contacts, woo! (laughter) So, I’m going to get rid
of these pieces of junk. Well, I might use them at night, but- I really wanted contacts,
because when we were filming and stuff, I was oh my gosh
I can’t see anything! And I really need to figure
something out because I couldn’t see. – [Jinger] When he’s in his
superhero costumes, it makes it really hard with his glasses in the way. Because he has to take off
his glasses when he’s in his Spiderman costume and so
then he can’t see anything. (laughter) – Yeah, so I’m getting contacts today. But that’s not the only reason. The other reason is that
sometimes when we are filming challenges and stuff, I have
to take off my glasses because there is a glare. And normally you can’t see my
eyes so I have to take them off, so there’s another reason why. But, I just really wanted
contacts because these really annoying, they keep sliding
down my nose and I have to push them up, like an old grandma. – [Jinger] ♫ He’s so excited! ♫ He just can’t hide it. ♫ Yeah Oh yeah. Are you just like dying? – Yeah. – [Jinger] Okay, this is going
to be so exciting for you. Your life is changing. – I don’t know why, but
my eyes are watering. – [Jinger] Because you just yawned. – I know. (laughter) So, apparently, I am color-blind. – [Jinger] It’s official. (laughter) – Mmm-Hmm, because out of
fourteen palettes, I only got seven. – [Jinger] Only got seven. – Only got seven. – [Jinger] So he can’t see the
reds and the greens when they are lighter colored, he can
see them when they are really vivid, but- – Now I don’t even know what
color the world is, I’m very confused. – [Jinger] Yeah, right. (laughter) – [Optometrist] Relax, almost got it both eyes open. Almost drowned in a thing of tears. (laughter) Look down again, you’re doing great. – [Jinger] Don’t be scared,
Gage, it won’t hurt. He’s getting his contact
in for the first time. – [Optometrist] Just let it cling on. Look towards me, straight ahead now. Now just relax, blink a couple of times. There’s tissues by your
elbow, grab one of those. (laughter) Now is it scratchy or lumpy? – It’s a little lumpy. – [Optometrist] Okay, your
eyelids are getting used to it bumping around on them. If it was scratchy it means
that we’ve got some fuzz on it, we can get rid of that. – [Jinger] You okay? Now close this eye and see how good it is. – Oh my gosh! (laughter) No way! – [Jinger] Isn’t that cool? – That is so cool! – [Jinger] You’ll have
to get used to them. – [Optometrist] Watch
way over at the door. And keep two eyes open. – [Jinger] Take a deep breath. – [Optometrist] Slowly look
towards me, slowly, slowly. There we go now, straight ahead. Now, blink a couple of times. – [Jinger] Two eyes in! (laughter) What do you think?
– Wholly crap! Wait a minute, wait a minute. (laughter) I don’t have my glasses on. (laughter) – [Optometrist] Now you can see. – [Jinger] Isn’t that cool? – [Optometrist] This is-
– I am so amazed right now! – [Optometrist] This is what
your mom felt like when she had her lasik done. – [Jinger] Yeah, no kidding! Isn’t that awesome? – Yeah (chair rolling) – [Jinger] Are they bugging? – No, I just gotta get use to them. – [Optometrist] They’re just
bumping the edges a little bit. You’re eyelids have been
practicing for twelve years- (laughter) to get these out. Your teaching them, oh you’ve
gotta leave something in there right now. – [Jinger] Are you amazed? – I am so amazed right now. – I brought Luke and Kyle
with me, say hi guys. – Hi!
– Hi! – We are at the nature park
here and decided I was going to go for a walk slash jog this morning. I brought the gopro, Jinger
took our other camera to take Gage to go get his contact lens’ done. So, that’s going to be in the blog, too. The batteries are running
really low in this gopro, so I don’t know how much footage
I’ll be able to get. But I’ve got a goal, I’m going
in to get my eyes done, I’m getting lasik done on
my eyes this Thursday. So my goal is to get rid of
the last four pounds to get out of the three hundreds so I
weigh two hundred something instead of three hundred something. So, that’s the goal, as I’m
going to start working out every morning, going for a jog or a
walk and my goal is to get out of the three hundreds before
I go in for my eye surgery. So, wish me luck, here we go. (wind) – [Carl] Better keep up. (heavy breathing) (laughter) – I can walk as fast as you jog. (laughter) (wind) (fast footsteps) – [Carl] ♫ So now we’ve come ♫ To the end of the road Time to turn around, we gotta go back. (laughter) Woo!
Let’s go. Look at this cool little spot here. (wind) There’s actually a, looks like
two rivers or a creek and a river, conjoining or, I don’t know. They split up with that
little island or whatever. We’re taking a little rest
along the trail on the riverside here. Tag really wants to go swimming. You can’t go swimming,
you’ll get all dirty. (laughter) Right! – Yeah, she thinks she- – [Carl] They’ve got a rope
swing over the river there, and a bar hooked up in the tree
where you can stand and swing out. But I don’t think I would
trust that swinging over these rocks, that rope looks a little bit ratty. (laughter) Not very safe. – [Optometrist] Can you see
the contact lens on your eye? It goes out onto the white
part of the eye a little bit. – Um – [Optometrist] See how big it is? – Not really. – [Optometrist] Get close. – Now I can see it. – [Optometrist] Now you
can see the edges of it? It’s a little glistening
lens you can look at. There you go. – I got it out! – [Optometrist] Yay! – [Jinger] Yay! (laughter) – [Optometrist] That was a
lot faster than the other one. Your eyes are getting used to this idea. – [Jinger] Okay, what
are your first thoughts? – I’m still getting used to it. My mind is going nuts
because I keep checking if I have my glasses on, but I don’t. – [Jinger] But you can see clearly? – I can see very clearly. – [Jinger] Awesome! And you can take them in, I
mean put them in and take them out all by yourself, so that’s awesome. – It took me a while to do this eye, but- – [Jinger] Hey, not too bad, though – Not too bad. – [Jinger] Oh yeah, contacts! (laughter) – Now are we going to go
do something special now? – [Jinger] Maybe so. – [Carl] Gage – What – [Carl] You have Xray vision now? – Yeah, extra – [Carl] Can you see all
the way to Pluto and back? – I wish, but no. – [Carl] You haven’t even
tried, how far have you looked? (slap) (laughter) – Ow
– [Carl] Sucker! That didn’t hurt.
(laughter) So, can you see awesome now? When you look over there,
does everything look in high definition now? – Yeah, it looks like
I have my glasses on. – [Carl] Can you see those
horse turds in the grass over there now? – Yep – [Carl] You can? (laughter) Is it weird, when you look down
at the grass and stuff, and you feel like you can see
everything really good? – Yeah – [Carl] Yeah? You’re happy, huh, contacts? Look at you go, man. ♫ You got the contacts ♫ Contacts, contacts ♫ You got the contacts ♫ In your eyes – Yeah!
– [Carl] Yeah! He’s got me all excited. Him and Jinger combined have
got me all excited, wow! It just got really cold and windy. Got me real excited for Thursday
when I get to get rid of MY glasses. That’s going to be an awesome
moment to be able to take these off and I think I’m just
going to throw them in the trash, they’re not going to
do any good anymore, right? once I get my lasik done on my eyeballs. Is that weird when I push
on my eyeballs like that? Oh, I’m excited. It’s gonna be a little bit
hard to through the recovery. But I it’s gonna be worth
it, I really hope so. Wanna know why? Watch this, ready? Boink! (laughter) I barely touch them and
the stupid lens pops out. I’ve been limping these freaking
glasses along for so long! I’ve had enough! Wow, that makes my vision really bad! This is like everything is
blurry, but also crystal clear at the same time. That’s going to give
me a headache, alright. I’m so sick of these pieces of crap! Dudes, it’s too cold out here. Look, see! Actually it makes it look like
this one is perfect and that one is not. Awe, man. It’s too cold out here, I’m
going in the house, I’m freezing my butt off. This is all the paperwork right
here, that I take in to go to the doctor’s office- (hand slapping countertop) to get my eyes done this Thursday. I went ahead and sat down
and filled it all out, so I’m ready to go. Jinger, how are your eyes doing? – Perfect, they actually are perfect. – [Carl] Your vision is still
doing really awesome and everything? – Yeah, I’m, they’re getting less dry. They’ve been so dry for the
last little while, but it’s all getting better and better. – [Carl] It’s totally worth it? – I still have a- look up here. – [Carl] Wait let me focus,
oh yeah that’s where they put the suction on your eye. – That’s the part that
itches, the reddish. – [Carl] So it’s not even
your pupil or anything. – No, all of this is good. Feels good, but along there it
gets dry and kinda irritated every now and then. But it was totally worth it. – [Carl] Good, that’s reassuring. – It’s awesome. – Anyway, that’s it for the blog today. I’m going to take the SD card
